Georgia is arguably the most convenient country for a first immigration step for citizens of Russia and the CIS. No visa is needed: Russian citizens can stay for up to 365 days without any permits, simply entering with a foreign passport.

Georgia's tax system is one of the simplest in the world. Flat income tax of 20%, VAT 18%, corporate tax only on paid dividends (Estonian model). Individual entrepreneurs ("small business" status with turnover up to 500,000 lari) pay just 1% on revenue. Registering a sole trader takes 1–2 days at the Justice House.

For a residence permit you can buy real estate from $35,000 (6-month investor residence with renewal options). Alternatively, register an LLC with turnover or open a bank account in a Georgian bank. TBC Bank and Bank of Georgia open accounts for Russian citizens with a Georgian address.

Tbilisi has become a major hub for technology companies and IT professionals. Russian is widely understood, especially by people over 40. Fast Wi-Fi in cafes, affordable housing ($500–$800 for a central Tbilisi apartment), excellent Georgian cuisine and wine make the country comfortable for long-term living.
