Why now

Rules are tightening — the sooner you start, the more options you keep

  • 2024Caribbean states raised the minimum investment to $200,000, and in June 2026 the European Commission asked them to phase out their programmes by June 2028.
  • 19 May 2026Portugal extended the residence period for citizenship from 5 to 10 years (7 for EU and CPLP nationals).
  • 2025Italy restricted citizenship by descent: you now need a parent or grandparent who held only Italian citizenship.
  • 30 Oct 2025Germany abolished 3-year fast-track naturalisation — the minimum is now 5 years.

In Portugal and Italy, applications filed before the changes are processed under the previous rules.

Common questions

Can I get a passport without moving?

Yes. Investment and descent programmes don’t require you to live there. Sometimes one trip is needed, for the oath or an interview.

How long does it take?

It depends on the route: investment takes 4 to 18 months, descent six months to three years, residence 2 to 10 years.

How much does it cost?

It depends on the country: a second passport from $50,000, in Europe from $80,000, and in Caribbean programmes the government contribution alone starts at $200,000. The price is fixed in the contract.

Can my whole family be included?

Yes. Most investment programmes include your spouse, children and often parents in one application. The calculator above shows the cost.

Will I have to give up my citizenship?

No, almost every programme allows dual citizenship. Your home country may require notification: Russian citizens, for example, must report a second passport within 60 days.

What if I’m refused?

We check your case before filing and before any government fee. The government contribution is paid only after approval. Check fees aren’t refunded, so we don’t file weak cases.

What does the $500 consultation include?

A review of your situation, suitable programmes, the total budget, the timeline and the document list. If there’s no chance, we tell you in the consultation.

Will my taxes change?

No, a passport alone doesn’t change your taxes — they depend on where you live. If needed, we bring in a tax adviser.

Is my data safe?

Yes. We sign a confidentiality agreement and share your data only with the authority reviewing the application.
